Welcome to UI/UX Design with Generative AI: Designing User-Friendly Interfaces.
This course is a comprehensive tutorial for UI/UX designers who are interested in exploring how generative AI can support the creation of high-quality, user centered interface designs. The course introduces current AI tools and workflows used in UI and UX design, and examines how they can complement traditional design practices In recent years, artificial intelligence has evolved to support tasks such as generating interface layouts from text prompts, transforming visual references into editable designs, and assisting with user experience research. In this course, you will explore how these tools are currently applied in real-world UI/UX workflows. In the introduction session, you will learn about different AI applications in UI/UX design and understand how they can assist with tasks such as ideation, prototyping, and analysis. The focus is on how AI can help streamline parts of the design process while designers maintain control over usability and design decisions.
The first project section focuses on generating UI designs using AI-powered tools such as Uizard, Visily AI, Wind Frame, V0, Google Stitch, Figma, Banani, Nano Banana, Manus, and Teleport HQ. You will learn how to write prompts that describe interface requirements, including features, layout preferences, styles, and color schemes. You will also explore how AI tools can convert screenshots and hand-drawn sketches into editable UI designs. In the second section, the focus shifts to manual UI design using Figma. While AI can assist with design generation, it is equally important to understand how to design interfaces from scratch. In this section, you will design a simple sign-up page manually, learning core UI principles such as layout structure, spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy. In the third section, you will learn how to create user flow diagrams using Miro. User flows are a fundamental part of UX design, helping designers visualise how users navigate through a product and interact with different screens. In the fourth section, you will explore how AI can assist with analyzing user attention using a Figma plugin. This section demonstrates how visual attention analysis can support layout evaluation and usability reviews. Finally, you will conduct user experience analysis using UX Pilot. You will explore how AI is capable of reviewing your design and provide insightful UX analysis, and also transform those insights into structured UX research outputs.
Firstly, before getting into the course, we need to ask ourselves this question: why should we utilise AI to design user interfaces? Well there are many reasons, from a designer’s perspective, generating new ideas and translating them into usable interfaces can be time-consuming. AI can act as a creative and analytical assistant by offering design suggestions and supporting research tasks, allowing designers to explore ideas more efficiently while maintaining design quality.
