Among the many useful $SHELL features is the ability to substitute commands in-place, at the calling-point. Command substitution places the output of one or more commands at your disposal for usage in say a Variable, Alias, or in-line for further processing. Nesting extends this functionality as far as your (use-case | imagination) dictates, possibly resulting in extremely useful time-saving command-sets. Spend some time substituting commands in this release.
