The “Mimic & Me” series, co-written by Cassius Lange and Ryan Tang, is a LitRPG/Humorous Fantasy adventure.
The synopsis for the first book, Mimic & Me, introduces the main character, Damon, a poor, down-on-his-luck scout who is betrayed and left for dead by a group of slaving nobles. On the brink of death, he is found by a gelatinous, gluttonous mimic named Chester. Instead of eating Damon, the mimic is bribed with food and then fuses with him, transforming Damon into a half-man, half-mimic monstrosity with powerful new abilities.
The core of the series follows Damon, with his new “bodymate” Chester, as they navigate the world of Basania, seeking revenge against the nobles and dealing with various enemies and dangers. The main conflict, and source of much of the series’ humor, is the constant struggle with Chester’s insatiable hunger for cake and human flesh.
As the series progresses:
Damon and Chester work to get stronger, take on slaving empires, and encounter dangerous foes.
They participate in classic LitRPG elements like dungeon crawling, leveling systems, and stat-based progression.
The narrative eventually expands to reveal that Chester is actually a monster god (a “Calamity”:wink: whose enraged peers have fused their worlds together, creating a dangerous hellscape overflowing with corrupted monsters, requiring Damon and Chester to raise an army to restore order.
